Your role. Student, Professional, Someone that needs help

Why are you here?

I'm an undergrad student currently.  So I figured I'd join up, talk, get other perspectives, and hopefully help with stuff if I need it.

nice topic for getting to know people, i like it, thanks.

i am a counsellor in the UK. i practice as a counsellor privately.

i work as a health care assitant. (thats like an unqualified nurse) for a Community Mental Health Team.

i also work as a psychiatric nursing assitant. (like an unqualified nurse)

i have previously been diagnosed with, PTSD, Paranoid Psychosis, paranoid schizophrenia. i had treatment resistant schizophrenia and eventually gave up hope of being helped by the the mental health services.

i recovered with out medication after many years of struglling with my symptoms, i have not taken any psychiatric medication in 8 years.

i now work for those services that failed to help me.

i started this forum for people who have an interest in people. people like me, people like you, people like the regular members we have here.  people who have suffered, people who have recovered, people who are learning, people who are teaching. i wanted to connect people who have an interest in psychology, psychotherapy, mental health and mental illness. a place we can all share our experiences our ideas, our thoughts and our feelings. a place where we can help each other understand each other and help oursleves understand ourselves.

with two jobs and my own practice i dont have as much time as i would like to spend on the forum but i try to keep the forum in good order and i always try to say hello and reply to any new members.

Of course, the answer is... professional student that needs help.  :)

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Psychiatric Technician, Masters level addictions counselor... and a bunch of other stuff I won't bore anyone with.  Currently Assistant Administrator and Director of Quality in an inpatient hospital.  Also have a private practice.

Really wasn't being glib though.  Am pro enough I guess, but always have stuff I'm trying to improve... starting with me, from the inside-out.

Student.  I'm a psychology major in community college hoping to transfer to Temple in Philly.  I'm going to check out neuroscience as a minor or possibly a second major.

I'm still in high school, but I'm planning on taking psych next year. I'm also planning to study it in college, and maybe someday become a counselor.

I've been diagnosed with anxiety disorder, ADD, and reoccurring depression.

I really like learning about how the mind works.
