Seniority and Attacks
« on: September 10, 2009, 03:22:19 AM »
Becoming senior is not an easy task as juniors learns from us. But if juniors are very sound in work and works hard then it may create problem to seniors as they think. Is it possible for an obidient junior to always obey the senior in this case? If the senior always tries to tell junior wrong though he is not and always try to disturb his works, what should he do? If the junior doesnt speaks much on his issues but when its enough he speaks to the manager, is it his right step?
Moreover, senior always interfare in the job assigned to the juniors and his other colleagues. He always try to involve in the works which is assigned to other peers. How to treat such seniors?

vodoo scientist, Its discussion about the attempts made by the seniors to show juniors down and always quarrel with juniors. and the questions are:
 - Is it possible for an obidient junior to always obey the senior?
 - If the senior always tries to tell junior wrong though he is not and always try to disturb his works, what should he do?
 - If the junior doesnt speaks much on such issues(tries to avoid) but when its enough he speaks to the manager, is it his right step?
 - How to treat such seniors?

hello,
answering your questions.

yes it is possible that a junior always obey his senior, however this is depending on the temperament of the junior, some juniors may find it very difficult to be constantly treated in this way.

going a step above the senior to the level of managment is usually a good course of action, there are a lot of policies to protect staff from bullying at work, which this type of behaviour could be classed as.

yes, it is right to speak to the manager.

seek advice form a manager about how to treat these seniors.
And the  LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as  one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Thanks SWM for your answers.
 - Some seniors always wants to dominate juniors to show their superiority in high level management. So in this case, I dont think the temperament of the junior is the reason for disobeying the senior. Rather this is the case of self-appraisal by the senior to the senior management.
- I believe bullying at work is one of the key for the success of Juniors and as you have mentioned going to step above the senior is good course of action.
- But if you are the manager yourself then how will you resolve such case as any decision in this case can effect your productive working environment.
