Psychokinesis
« on: June 19, 2008, 01:46:34 PM »
Psychokinesis is the process of moving or otherwise affecting physical objects by the mind only, without making any physical contact. It is derived from a word ‘ psi;, meaning that apparently it is a technique of mind over matter through invisible means .There are various examples i.e. in the form of movements of objects, bending of metals, and determining the outcome of events. It can occur spontaneously and deliberately which indicates it is both an unconscious and conscious process.

What constitutes real?

There has been suggestion that poltergeist activity may actually be psychokinetic.

I was once trying to move a pencil with my mind, I must have been trying for about 5 minutes and then it rolled over. Scared the hell outta me, so I didn't do it again.
Then I figured it probably wasn't my mind, as however much it psychokinesis interests me, I'm pretty skeptical about it.
Ignore the email LOL. I'm using my sisters cause I haven't got one...I really need to get one sorted out.

No, I don't believe it works until I see it does, nor do I believe in poltergeists.

I noticed that I could get a pencil to roll, however it only worked if the pencil was on a part of my body, which lead me to conclude that I simply subconsciously tilted my body to move the pencil in the direction I desired without noticing.

If psychokinesis existed, what would be for the reason for it? There is no physical contact with the object so how can it possibly move? Something must be able to move it and your mind and the object are not connected in any way.

As I am reading your posts, I am immediately remembering one of my favorite childhood books from Robert Dahl, titled Matilda. In this novel, Matilda realizes that she has psychokinetic powers (this is explained as Matilda's tremendous mental prowess, after being repressed by her parents and in the classroom, seeking another outlet for itself). Matilda is able to tip a glass over with her mind, for instance.
My point here is the following: do we really know that our minds are in no way connected to objects? What are minds? What about there being energy between the two? Is it possible that the energy of our nerves can be transformed and transmitted in a different form via chemical processes and then transformed into mechanical energy that moves an object?

assuming the possibility, id like to throw a little bit of physics into the mix.
my guess would be that if its at all possible, somehow one could utilize the energy or just the plain current from the firing of neurons in our mind (as TheAgeofReason said). perhaps, through a change in energy mediums, (i.e. liquid to gas, yet on the same level, electricity being transferred, perhaps in some undiscovered or proven form???). one could even include the possibility of dark matter taking effect. its literally everywhere, as a sort of negative form of matter. perhaps, the dark matter portion of our brains could operate across planes, affecting matter and dark matter simultaneously???!?!?!?!!

oh jeebus, im outdoing myself here :P
its all just guesswork in the end.
