Note To A Kindred Spirit

We rationalize darkness much in the same way.
You have been on the sun
But now you are realizing the torment of descent.
Me, I've remained trapped here on the earth
Wishing for wings that may never appear.
But all in all,
We are the same.
The same light in our eyes,
For acceptance we crave,
And for all our effort yet here we remain.
Our light evolves,
Spreading to the ends of the earth,
Touching the few lives that can make sense
Of our phantom wish for happiness.
But YOU,
They want another piece of your joy
From the very little that you keep for yourself.
You were a beacon, a star to all who cared to look.
But now in your eyes all is faded and pale,
And your smile has lost its glow...
They don't see it but I do.
That is because I am the same as you.
I know too what it's like to want to be strong,
But all the while falling apart inside.
How little the fire burns
When it is smothered by heaps of the past...
Past accomplishments are a blemish
On the soul of one who looks toward tomorrow.
How can they not see this?
Your eyes are just too sad
Not to notice the pain that you keep to yourself.
From my perspective I can see your ache,
Your desire to break free from that
Internalized prison that seeks so desperately
To keep you within.
Break free!
It doesn't matter what happens;
Life and death,
Pleasure and pain:
Break free!
Sing yourself to freedom,
Perhaps someday I'll join you in a band.
We both write songs of dark
In need of light to set it free.
So break free from the past,
From the pain of having others
Want a piece of you to heal their own lives.
It is YOU!,
you that needs time to heal too.
All in all,
We are the same.

Weakness and weakness finds strength in numbers,
We both know that from life itself.
