4-line Poetry Game
« on: April 14, 2009, 09:48:39 PM »
First of all, no poetry talent whatsoever is needed.  It's all for fun, no critiquing or any of that.  Basically, you are given a topic and then you must write a poem consisting of four lines on the subject of that topic.  When you have finished writing your poem you then choose a topic for the next person to write their poem on.  And then, so on.  The only rule is that you can not use the topic word(s) in your poem (and of course your poem can be only four lines).

We can almost consider this a spin-off of the Word Association game or the ink blot test, good fun.  I'll begin with a random topic and then give the topic for the next person (if anyone plays - please play, my poor, poor ego would just be crushed if no one does)    : P

The Ocean
Waves of water of soothing green
Splash against the sandy shore
With a song that induces a hypnotic dream
And leaves the heart wanting of more

i was thinking about four lines before if i manage to finish i will post it
And the  LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as  one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

the light which pours upon life radiant growth abounds
the fruit yet to fall, and movement increases heat,
that impact spreads joy, love, contentment, through the flesh
and there my mother, my daughter, the earth, she is ripened and grows again afresh.

I had to Bing Duncan Hotel. It came up with several different references. The most common was Duncan Hotel in British Colombia. Although there are different ones across the U.S. I live in the South and there aren't any near here. So I will do my best to respond.

When our instincts take control,
They overwhelm and doom us all.

The only rule is that you can not use the topic word(s) in your poem (and of course your poem can be only four lines).
I know we haven't been following it, but that's the rule.

In the middle of the night
I awaken with a fright
And I don't see any light
So I fall asleep again and....   zzz
