« on: November 26, 2011, 09:04:29 PM »
A study of synesthesia and it's effects on cognitive processing is being conducted in the SAN FRAN--SAN JOSE-CUPERTNO (CA) area.

If at all interested in participating, any local synesthetes in the area should email cupertinoscience (@gmail.com) with the Subject "Synesthesia". By participating, you are helping fuel breakthrough research.

Information flyer:

GRAPHEME-COLOR SYNESTHESIA is a rare neurological phenomenon in which monochromatic letters, numbers, or words lead to the perception of a color. Synesthesia is a relatively new field of psychology, and breakthrough discoveries concerning the cognitive abilities of synesthetes are being uncovered daily.
Synesthetes often see words, letters, or numbers as certain colors. For example, "9" can be deep green, "7" is orange, "A" is red, or "C" is yellow. Phrases too, can be colored.

PUBLISHED NEUROLOGICAL STUDIES OF SYNESTHESIA HAVE PROVED COLOR SYNESTHETES TO DISPLAY SIGNIFICANTLY ABOVE-AVERAGE COGNITIVE PROCESSING ABILITIES.

A research study is being conducted in the San Jose-Cupertino area to further analyze the rare phenomenon.

IF YOU THINK YOU MAY POSSESS SYNESTHESIA, AND AGREE TO TAKE PART IN THE STUDY, YOUR COGNITIVE PROCESSING ABILITIES WILL BE ANALYZED AND COMPARED WITH THOSE OF NON-SYNESTHETES THROUGH SIMPLE TESTS. Anonymity is guaranteed. IRB consent forms detailing complete research study will be given to each subject before start of participation. If subject is under 18, legal guardian must fill consent form.

TOTAL PARTICIPATION TIME WILL SPAN LESS THAN ONE HOUR. YOU MAY CHOOSE A TESTING TIME AND DATE THAT FITS YOUR SCHEDULE.

IF YOU ARE A SYNESTHETE, CONTACT
CUPERTINOSCIENCE (gmail)
SYNESTHESIS.NEURO (gmail)
with "Synesthesia" in the Subject box. You will receive a reply with an online test designed to test your synesthesia.
