Youtubers..A hateful group of people?
« on: May 06, 2010, 04:59:08 AM »
Well this is something I have LONG noticed and I am very sure anyone who visits the site knows...the people on youtube seem so mentally degenerated. I do not see why every video has some horridly formed...lines of text with statements such as " FUCKING FAGGZ VID SUCKZ YOU SHOULD KILL YOURSELF EMO FUCKS!!" Many things like that. Are these people stuck in a superiority complex? What drives them to find things they dislike, intentionally, and put down, insult, mock, proclaim people should kill themselves because of the music they listen to or other such things you find on youtube. I wish it was just children but...it is every age group.

I think I'm the person who wrote that one.  Hey, the video sucked...  :P

Personally I attribute this problem to these people having too much free time on their hands, coupled with a diminished outlook of the potential of the internet.

I mean trust me, I realize none of us are perfect and im ok with short comemnts like "vids sucks" "stupid vid" "waste of time" "worst ever" I expect that kind of stuff, but the messages some people leave are so hateful, horrid, and ignorant I hate going on youtube  because honestly - It disgusts me.

expression at a distance, or utilizing a medium.

people seem to find emotional/true self expression (or close to it) easier to do via the internet, phone conversations, texts, etc. rather than in "real life".  all to varying degrees. and as childish and overly, well, absurd as their comments may seem, those posting such statements might be getting a sense of relief, or satisfaction from the emotional dump towards a random person on youtube, that they don't even know, and probably never will. they might feel a sense of superiority due to the conversation, i.e. "hah i showed them!". when they would most likely never dare to say such things in public. i think it ends up being a way to conveniently express those thoughts you're always keeping to yourself. without the repercussions that would normally follow in-person scenarios of such outbursts.

the sad part is most offenders in this phenomenon dont even know why they act as childishly as they do. for "christ's" sake, its youtube. chill out.

Yeah your probably right. Also I probably should "chill out" as it honestly should not affect me, but I just don't have a positive outlook on people..and well that doesn't help it at all. While they are free to expression so am I, so in effect I don't need to "chill out" :P

well, hey, we all have that right. you can act the way you want (within the law i suppose :P ) and its hard to maintain a positive outlook on people, nowadays at least. they dont tend to give us much to praise them for XP

like the way they act on youtube lol

I got two answers...
1. TROLLS~! W00T TO KILL, JUST STARVE...
2. The internet is supposedly perfectly ananymous. Your account gets banned, then, you can make a new one, your IP blocked, you change your IP address, you can say whatever you want, and no one can stop you. Imagine seeing the actual person you're saying whatever to, it is much harder to do. On the internet, you can say whatever you want, and there are no consequences.
