Waking up with a feeling of dread....

I sleep very little, about three hours a day. I always wake up feeling happy, well rested and am able to go on with my daily routine without problems. However, for the past few weeks, I have been waking up with a feeling of dread. It feels as though something unpleasant is about to happen, though it never does. I meditate everyday; and when I do, the feeling recedes into the back of my mind. It doesn't bother me as much then, but I know it is still there. I have no idea what triggered it to begin with or when it will go away.
I have been researching this and all I could find was that it could be mild anxiety attacks. Do any of you experience the same, or do you have any ideas what else this might be? Please feel free to express your thoughts.
