Maslow VS Vroom
« on: December 08, 2008, 02:16:00 PM »
Hey, I wonder if I can get some help from people in relation to maslow and vroom. I have to come up with similatities for my assignment but i think i miss understand the theories completely.

Am I right by saying:

Vroom says a person will be motivated if they feel the effort thay put in will increase thier perfomance enough to attain a reward and ultimately satisfy thier persoanl goals.

Maslow says a person is motivated by a combination of natural motivation and thier current motivators in thier life. He says a person has to have basic needs in order to obtain high order needs.

I am finding it really hard to find similarities between the expectancy theory and maslows heirachy of needs. Has anyone got any ideas?

It would be great if you could help :)

I guess the basic answer is they both work on positive reinforcement but aside from this i don't have an answer as they both address motivation from different angles and don't have that much in common.
