Lack of Control Sensation
« on: May 30, 2009, 03:41:35 AM »
here is another odd sensation i get sometimes.
an odd sensation of something i can only describe as euphoria (even though i don't really know what euphoria is) comes over me usually when someone is doing something for me, like say helping me with homework or weeding my garden.
i've never had any luck explaining it to anyone, no one i've ever discused it with seems to have ever gotten this feeling.
it seems to be a warming sensation, a kind of euphoria that envelopes me.  i actually kind of like it but i can make it go away if i try and i'm not sure if it has any sort of harmful effect on my body.
ever heard of something like this?

I think that's a pretty common experience. But, unlike you, usually people describe it as tingling or chills. In most cases, it's mediated by internal opiates (e.g., endorphins, enkephalins).

I get it at the dance club. The combination of the music, dancing, and "togetherness" is wonderful :-)

could it have anything to do with a Natural High?  i heard it mentioned once many years ago.  that's also something alot of people i talk to don't believe in.  but i can sit still and meditate and make myself feel very good and then i blink and it's gone.  it's not quite a drug or alcohol high, (and i don't have much experience with drugs) but if this euphoria is not harmful to my health than i'll just go out of my way to have someone help/show me something and get my high on  :-)  of course too much of a good thing is never a good thing but if i get it once every couple weeks... could it be harmful?

Worth a look anyways...

WOW...  um... that link to Hypomania seems right on.  a few weeks i heard an episode on the radio where a woman was discussing her Manic Depression and it seemed right in line with some other personality issues i face.
i wouldn't say i'm full blown Hypomanic Depressive that would require medication but at least i can now codify it.
if it were to ever get worse at least i would know how to address it or even pay attention to it in my future children.
interesting how the euphoric episodes tie in with my other personality fluctuations.
thanks

No need to thank me.  Just make sure that you research the topic thoroughly before you jump to any conclusions.

not really jumping to conclusions.  it's a great place to start in research though.
