Effects of Day and Night on our Brains.
« on: November 30, 2009, 12:46:51 AM »
I was wondering, what exactly is it about the day and night that makes us innately act so differently.

During the day the majority of people go to work, go to school, dress up more or less formally and are more polite.

At night is when we sort of stop caring about our reputation as much and do some of the things that can be viewed as unacceptable during the day, sex, alcohol, crimes.

I'm just curious as to what explains this. Is it because the sun is down we just feel like nobody can see us? Maybe they won't be able to recognize us the next day when we are dressed up at work again? I don't know the true answer so and advice would be appreciated.

there is actually physiological changes that take place depending on the amount of light and time of day.

there is also some research in to the effects of light and lack of on the pituitary and pineal glands. (associated with psychic development and mystical expereince)

some of the things you mention in your op have social and cultural reasons for their occurrence at night.
And the  LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as  one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

I don't mean to sound stupid but I'm new to the workings of the brain so I don't really know what that means. My antecedents being

"physiological changes that take place"
"pituitary and pineal glands. (associated with psychic development and mystical expereince)"
