Does everyone agree that the underlying principle of schizophrenia is the client's assumption that one's mental activities of some form or another are a means for mental communication with people or other assumed beings?

If this is not your understood principle to conclude the diagnosis is scz, then what are the exceptions to this principle, and what is the reason for this principle if it is not self-explanatory?

no, i strongly disagree with this. we cannot consider an illness or psychological disorder based on a person having unusual beliefs that do not fit with a scientific view of the world.

Now I'm skeptical.  What do you mean by that?

If the person swears up and down that the person is interacting in some kind of mind reading/mental communication, and it's happening more and more or every minute, this is not mental disorder?  The person can't even tell the person's own mental activities are from the person's own brain.  That is psychosis, but what do you have to say that counter argues this?

this is not psychosis. the person would have to be experiencing some other symptoms than those you have mentioned this would have to be happening over a period of time and this would also be in the context of certain environmental and cultural factors.

what you are describing is an experience that a person is ascribing to a certain set off beliefs. it is a common in a variety of cultural and religious belief systems.

if a priest believes that he is communicating with god, that does not make them psychotic.
if a recently bereaved person is experiencing visions and voices of their departed loved one, that does not make them psychotic.

for a diagnosis of a psychotic disorder there needs to be a lot more happening.

the DSM IV has the the currently accepted clinical criteria for a diagnosis of a psychotic disorder.
