Private Messaging

I, as well as others, have noticed that when you send a Private Message it is not saved in the Outbox.  Just a trivial concern....

yes, it will be nice if messages are saved automatically for our reference....instead of having to remember to save them manually... ;)

this is not a function by default as it could inflate the size of the database unecssarily. ie people not deleting their messages... ever. when the forum is operating the size that ours is, it would not be too much of a problem. but as the forum grows such a feature would inflate the databse with garbage. ie. people not emptying their own trash.

i would have to look in to if their is another way that this could be done. like maybe auto save is off by default but members can set it in their profile, and admin has a way to purge all messages after a certain amount of time. i am not sure how easy that would be to implement. there may be further problems then such as admin purging messages that members wanted to keep etc.

I too found that a bit disappointing as it is a nice way to verify that your messages have actually been sent. So I vote for save outgoing messages being "on" as the default :-)
