Systematic use and tool of diagnosis
« on: June 22, 2008, 02:00:09 PM »
Play Therapy is the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein play therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help person prevent or resolve psychosocial challenges and achieve optimal growth and development.
Play Therapy is used as tool of diagnosis. A play therapist observes a person playing with toys .It determines the cause of the disturbed behavior. The objects and patterns of play, as well as the willingness to interact with the therapist can be used to understand the underlying rationale for behavior both inside and outside the session.

Do you happen to know what the patterns of play are? like do you know why they play with each thing and what the reason behind is, I was always fascinated by this type of therapy and thought of it very useful since I want to be a child psychologist.
