Psychiatric Evaluation
« on: May 01, 2010, 03:46:06 AM »
Can anyone elaborate on what takes place if someone is sent for a psychiatric evaluation by a court order?

I know this is broad, but what would a psychologist/psychiatrist do to evaluate someone's state of mind?

Is it testing, talking, etc.? things of that nature?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Regards

Yeah, talking, questions, inkblots, it would likely depend on the person administering the evaluation.  The basic goal, in any case, would be to accrue as much useful information as possible of the person being assessed.

there are vast differences between psychology and psychiatry two completely different disciplines with divergent theoretical models.
