Competnent psychotherapy: Science or Art?
« on: June 10, 2010, 11:05:39 PM »
With due respect to those who love and honor "science"..., I find a problem with science, and I have been aware of this problem for thirty years.  The problem is difficult to discuss because it involves a little discussed phenomenon with Man.

The term Psychology uses the prefix "psyche".  Psyche is defined as "self, soul and mind".  These three terms are "abstract terms", or terms that are coined specifically to "stand for" dimensions of Man that cannot be perceived by ones brain or physical senses.  These terms refer to the Esoteric dimensions of Man.  Can you suggest the "reason" the ancient Greeks used the term "psyche" [knowing that this term referred to the Esoteric dimensions of Man] for their term Psychology?

Could it possibly be that the ancient Greeks intended the study of Psychology to pertain to and take place within these Esoteric dimensions of Man?   What a concept, huh?

Well, science tells us to deny, ignore and forget about anything the brain cannot perceive or their physical instruments cannot examine.  How exactly does one physically examine the Esoteric dimensions of Man?  One cannot do so, of course.  So, if one desires to pursue the Psychology of the ancient Greeks, one will do so via ones own Esoteric dimensions, or one will not do so at all.  And use of ones own Esoteric dimensions requires a highly evolved and specifically trained faculty of "intuition"... and this moves us into the realm of Art.

Peace
